ISHIKA RAMAKRISHNA/ WILDLIFE RESEARCHER

Ishika Ramakrishna wears many hats, shapeshifting from a primate researcher to an author to a nature podcast host to a passionate conservationist. A short trip to Ishika's field site in 2023 transformed into a flurry of collaborative projects of which book chapter illustrations on human-animal interactions, and an interactive art/game called "Gibbon Moves" are the are featured here. Ishika is the scientific lead behind "Gibbon Moves" which is based on her doctoral research findings at Centre for Wildlife Studies, Bangalore, India. EARLY BIRD/NATURE CONSERVATION FOUNDATION

Early Bird, a Nature Conservation Foundation initiative, through their engaging content, enriching training programmes, and extensive collaborations have been bringing bird and nature education to the general public. ART4CONSERVATION/ ZOOREACH

The Art4Conservation and Climate Crisis initiative by Zoo Outreach Organisation is in many ways a stepping stone in Sambita's formal journey into scientific and wildlife illustrations. What started as participation in a scientific illustration workshop and exhibition organised by Zooreach in 2024, gave way to Sambita's formal journey into workshop facilitation. BIODIVERSITY GAMES / CANOPY COLLECTIVE

The Biodiversity Games working group of Canopy Collective has been curating fun-filled and innovative ways of bringing nature education to the Northeast India through the power of games. Sambita is partnering with Biodiversity Games as a Game and Interactive Art creator to contribute to the vision of local community-led site-specific practices in nature education and conservation.

CREATURE CONSERVE/INTERDISCIPLINARY CREATIVE COMMUNITY

Creature Conserve, a thriving and growing collective of creative practitioners, researchers, conservation enthusiasts and more, nurtures projects and art-sci leaders in the conservation space. Creature Conserve has enriched Sambita's practice through their exceptional workshops and most notably through their Scholarship that supported the initial stages of the "Gibbon Moves" project. This collaboration was further strengthened through Sambita's onboarding as a mentor for the Creature Conserve Mentorship Programme, and later as a guest critique to review the rich diversity of mentee projects.

THE SAHEJ PROJECT/MUSIC BAND

The collaboration with The Sahej Project on their first music album was born out of the shared love for music and art between Sambita and their batchmate from the Indian Institute of Science, Hreedish Kakoty (4th from left), who is also the vocalist, pianist, rhythm guitarist and the founder of the post-rock/ambient rock band. Their music takes the audience on a myriad Voyages through the crossroads of the human psyche and experience and their encounters with science, philosophy, art and beyond, captured in Sambita's artistic interpretation in the album art.
